Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has called on Nigerians to remain united and steadfast in the face of rising insecurity across the country, expressing confidence that the nation will overcome its current security challenges.
In a statement reacting to recent incidents of violence and abductions in parts of the country, the governor said Nigeria’s strength lies in the resilience, courage and unity of its people.
He urged citizens to support ongoing efforts by the Federal Government and security agencies, stressing that defeating insecurity requires collective responsibility beyond political, ethnic or religious divisions.
Sanwo-Olu said recent attacks had understandably caused public concern, but insisted that such moments should strengthen national solidarity rather than deepen divisions.
According to him, every life lost to violence is a tragedy, adding that communities affected by insecurity deserve support, protection and solidarity from all Nigerians.
He also called for prayers and support for victims of recent abductions, including teachers and students reportedly taken from Oyo State.
The governor noted that Nigeria has faced several challenges in its history, including economic hardship, political instability and security threats, but has consistently overcome them through unity and determination.
He expressed optimism that the country would also overcome its current security difficulties, urging Nigerians to remain hopeful and committed to national progress.
Sanwo-Olu emphasized that government alone cannot tackle insecurity, calling on communities to remain vigilant and share useful intelligence with security agencies.
He reiterated confidence in the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the efforts of security agencies to restore peace and stability across the country.
The governor encouraged young people and families to remain resilient, while urging security personnel to stay committed to their duties.
He maintained that Nigeria’s unity and collective strength would ultimately prevail over those responsible for violence and instability, expressing optimism about a safer and more stable future for the country.
