‘She Procured Illegal Abortion’: Ned Nwoko’s Team Reveals Why Regina Daniels’ Friend Was Arrested

ABUJA — The legal team of Senator Ned Nwoko has released a bombshell statement explaining the arrest of Ms. Izuegbu Anthonet (popularly known as Ann), the best friend of his estranged wife, Regina Daniels.

In a press release issued on Monday, January 19, 2026, the Senator’s communication team dismissed claims of intimidation, stating that the arrest stems from two “grave criminal allegations”: criminal defamation and the procurement of an illegal abortion.

The statement comes just days after Regina Daniels took to social media to cry out over the detention of her friend, alleging that the police action was a calculated move to isolate and silence her amidst their bitter marital dispute.

The “Abortion” Allegation

In what is the most damaging accusation to date, Ned Nwoko’s team alleged that Ann was directly involved in terminating a pregnancy during the Senator’s marriage to Regina Daniels.

“Ms. Izuegbu Anthonet is implicated in the procurement of an illegal abortion for Regina Daniels during her lawful marriage to Senator Ned Munir Nwoko,” the statement read.

The team claimed that Ann administered a concoction of substances, specifically “a bunch of weed,” which allegedly caused severe bleeding and the subsequent loss of the unborn child. They insisted that the incident is “on record” and has been “previously publicly referenced by Regina herself.”

Defamation Regarding Laila Nwoko

The second charge centers on claims Ann reportedly made on social media. The statement accuses her of spreading false narratives that Senator Nwoko physically assaulted his other wife, Mrs. Laila Nwoko, causing her to suffer a miscarriage.

“These claims are entirely false,” the communication team fired back. “No such incident occurred, and no miscarriage resulted from any alleged violence. The statements were made without evidence and form part of a coordinated attempt to reinforce unsubstantiated domestic violence allegations.”

A War of Words

This development marks a significant escalation in the public fallout between the billionaire politician and the Nollywood actress.

Just last week, Regina Daniels posted a distressed message claiming she “fears for her life,” describing the arrest of Ann and her brother, Sammy West (who faces separate theft charges of $40,000), as a strategy to strip her of her support system.

“You want to find a reason to arrest everyone around me so that I will have no one left beside me,” Regina wrote on Instagram. “Then, when I’m completely isolated and broken, I will be forced to come back to you.”

Senator Nwoko’s team, however, maintains that the law must take its course regardless of personal relationships. They accused Ann and Regina’s family of enabling a “destructive lifestyle” that allegedly includes substance abuse—a claim Regina has vehemently denied, recently posting a negative drug test result to clear her name.
