‘Malicious Falsehood’: Police, Govt Deny Abduction of 100 Villagers in Kaduna

KADUNA — The Kaduna State Police Command and the Kajuru Local Government Council have categorically debunked viral reports claiming that bandits abducted over 100 worshippers in the Kurmin Wali community on Sunday.

Speaking after a State Security Council meeting on Monday, January 19, 2026, the State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Rabiu, described the reports as a “calculated fabrication” by “conflict entrepreneurs” aiming to shatter the relative peace returning to the state.

The Commissioner challenged those peddling the rumor to provide a single name or identity of any victim, warning that security agencies will no longer tolerate the spread of fake news designed to cause panic.

On-the-Ground Verification

Corroborating the police stance, the Chairman of Kajuru Local Government Area, Dauda Madaki, revealed that he personally led a fact-finding mission to the alleged scene of the crime.

“I mobilized security operatives and visited the church where the so-called mass abduction supposedly took place,” Madaki told journalists at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House. “To our shock, there was no evidence of any attack whatsoever.”

Madaki stated that he interviewed key community leaders, including the village head, Mai Dan Zaria, and the youth leader, Bernard Bona, both of whom confirmed that no bandits invaded their community and no one was missing.

“Show Us the List”

The Council Chairman expressed frustration at the recurring trend of fake security alerts, which he believes are politically motivated.

“I challenge anyone to produce the names of the kidnapped individuals,” Madaki declared. “I have been waiting for this list since the rumor broke, but no one has come forward. It is clear that some people are unhappy with the peace Kajuru has been enjoying under this administration.”

Police Warning

Commissioner Rabiu warned that the Command has activated its cyber-intelligence unit to track down the originators of the false report.

“We will visit the full weight of the law on these merchants of falsehood,” Rabiu vowed. “You cannot sit in the comfort of your room and type lies that traumatize a whole state just to score cheap points.”

The police urged residents to go about their lawful business without fear, assuring them that the security situation in Kajuru and its environs remains stable and under control.
