Xavi agrees deal to become new Netherlands coach
Former Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernández has agreed to become the new head coach of the Netherlands national team.
Renowned football transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Xavi has reached an agreement to take charge of the Dutch national team, with the deal signed on Wednesday.
The appointment would see Xavi return to management after his departure from Barcelona, where he spent two-and-a-half seasons in charge.
The Spanish coach guided Barcelona to the La Liga title in the 2022/23 season before leaving the club at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
Xavi would now take on his first international coaching role if the appointment is officially confirmed, succeeding Ronald Koeman as head coach of the Netherlands.
Romano’s report described the agreement as a done deal, with the former Barcelona midfielder set to begin a new chapter in his coaching career with the Dutch national team.
