Video: ‘My only regret’ – Nigerian woman in Canada opens up after trip back home
A Nigerian woman identified as Bola who relocated to Canada while her husband and children remained in Nigeria has shared the one thing she regrets about her migration journey.
The woman made the revelation in a TikTok video after returning to Canada from a visit to Nigeria, where she reunited with her family.
Reflecting on her experience, Bola said she had spent a substantial amount of money during the trip and was left with little in her bank account for about two weeks after returning to Canada.
@bolabeautiphul This is one big regret I have about coming to Canada. It hurts me so badly and I wish I can turn things around, honestly… #bolabeautiphul #canada_life #nigeriatiktok

Despite her financial situation, she said she did not feel the pressure that often accompanies being broke.
“For about two weeks I’ve been so broke and yet I do not feel it,” she said.
Explaining the difference, Bola noted that some basic necessities and services in Canada are more accessible, making everyday life less stressful than what she had experienced in Nigeria.
“There are certain things that you should not even be thinking about. They should just be readily available to you,” she added.
Although she spoke positively about her life in Canada, Bola said her biggest regret was delaying her relocation.
According to her, she wishes she had moved abroad in her twenties or thirties instead of waiting until later in life.
She also encouraged Nigerians who have the opportunity to relocate to take it without hesitation.
“If you have the opportunity, my darling, please stand up and move,” she said.
