Unity Bank Upgrades Unifi Mobile App to Deepen Reach with New Features
LAGOS — Unity Bank Plc has officially unveiled an upgraded version of its mobile banking platform, Unifi, introducing a suite of advanced features designed to deepen its retail market penetration and simplify digital transactions for millions of Nigerians.
The bank announced the rollout of Unifi Version 2.3 on Tuesday, positioning the update as a direct response to the evolving needs of its tech-savvy customers.
The new version focuses heavily on speed and security, integrating enhanced protocols to protect user data while expanding the app’s capabilities beyond basic transfers.
Faster Payments with NQR
A standout feature of the upgrade is the revamped Nigeria Quick Response (NQR) functionality. The bank has optimized this feature to allow customers to make contactless payments at merchant locations with greater speed and reliability, reducing the reliance on physical debit cards.
According to the bank, the app now supports expanded “quick-action” buttons, enabling users to perform frequent transactions—like airtime top-ups and bill payments—in fewer clicks.
“We Listened to Feedback”
Speaking on the development, Adenike Abimbola, the Divisional Head of Retail, SME, Digital Banking, and Fintech Partnerships at Unity Bank, stated that the upgrade is the product of rigorous customer feedback.
“Digital banking has become an integral part of everyday life,” Abimbola explained. “Our customers expect speed, dependability, convenience, and security as standard. With Unifi 2.3, we are responding directly to these expectations.”
She added that the bank designed the new interface to be “intuitive,” ensuring that even first-time users can navigate complex transaction journeys without friction.
Deepening Retail Reach
The launch aligns with Unity Bank’s broader strategy to capture a larger share of Nigeria’s youth and retail banking market. By gamifying aspects of the experience and simplifying onboarding, the bank aims to attract unbanked users and younger demographics who prioritize mobile-first financial solutions.
The upgraded Unifi app is now available for download on both the iOS App Store and Google Play Store.
