UK Travel Advisory: Nasarawa Government welcomes exclusion
By Edwin Phillip, Lafia
LAFIA: The Nasarawa State Government has welcomed its exclusion from the latest United Kingdom travel advisory, describing the development as a reflection of the state’s efforts to maintain peace and security.
Nasarawa is reportedly the only state in the North-Central region not included in the advisory restricting travel to the region.
The state government said the development demonstrated that its sustained efforts to prevent insecurity and maintain peace were yielding positive results, adding that it would intensify measures to sustain and improve the prevailing security situation.
This was contained in a statement issued on Friday by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Abdullahi Sule, Mr Ibrahim Addra.
According to the statement, the advisory, which was “still current as at 21st August 2026” on the UK Government website, was issued through the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO).
It said the advisory advised against all but essential travel to states in the North-Central region, with Nasarawa excluded.
The government said it received the development with humility and gratitude to God, adding that it was encouraged by the collective efforts of stakeholders to promote peace and security in the state.
While commending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, other governors and security agencies for their efforts in tackling security challenges across the country, the government acknowledged that more needed to be done.
It said it would continue to work to sustain and improve the prevailing peace and security in Nasarawa State.
“In Nasarawa, this positive outcome is also a reflection of the deliberate measures taken by the administration of Governor Abdullahi A. Sule to strengthen security, support security agencies and foster closer collaboration with communities and other stakeholders,” the statement said.
Governor Sule appealed to residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting security agencies by providing timely and credible information that could assist in preventing crime and maintaining peace.
