Tinubu has done more than any leader for northern Nigeria — Gov Sani
Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has said President Bola Tinubu has delivered more development projects to Northern Nigeria than any previous leader from the region, expressing confidence that the president would secure even more votes across the North in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking in an interview with ARISE NEWS on Tuesday, the governor said Tinubu’s investments in infrastructure, agriculture and security had earned him growing support among northern voters.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu today, he has done more than any leader for Northern Nigeria. I can tell you categorically, no president has done to the North in terms of development as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has done in the last three years,” Sani said.
“And I’m speaking on the basis of data and statistics. I’m the Governor of Kaduna State and I can tell you—Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will get more votes in 2027 than what he got in 2023.”
The governor also argued that improvements in security across parts of the North would further strengthen Tinubu’s re-election prospects.
“You can even come to Kaduna tomorrow, you go to Birnin Gwari without a police escort. That is a sign of progress,” he said.
According to Sani, the administration has reclaimed more than 500,000 hectares of farmland previously affected by insecurity, while conditions have also improved in other northern states.
“The issue of insecurity, I can tell you, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu… will win the North. Even he will get more votes in Northern Nigeria because, I’ll give you an example of Benue, that was an epicentre of insecurity. This same story goes to many other parts of the North.”
The governor maintained that northern voters would prioritise security and development over ethnic or religious considerations in 2027.
“The North will not vote on the basis of either religion, ethnicity, or tribe,” he said.
Sani also reiterated his support for the establishment of state police, describing it as the most practical solution to Nigeria’s security challenges.
“State police in Nigeria, it’s very important, it’s very critical. Because the only solution is the creation of state police,” he said, adding that adequate safeguards had been proposed to prevent governors from abusing the system.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu… with the creation of state police… will be creating history because once that is done, the issue of insecurity will be a thing of the past. Take it from me,” the governor added.
