‘Swear you’ll never cheat or forget Canada visa’ – Nigerian woman tells husband
A Nigerian woman living in Canada, Ezinne Nwanorue has stirred reactions online after revealing the unusual condition she gave her husband before agreeing to sponsor his relocation to the North American country.
Ezinne, who describes herself as “a prophetic intercessor, certified marriage counsellor, wife and mum of three boys,” said her husband must publicly swear never to be unfaithful to her if he joins her in Canada.
According to Ezinne, she believes the instruction came from God and insisted that her husband, Franklin Nwanorue, must make the declaration in a video posted on Facebook and WhatsApp before he could be granted a visa.
“Before my husband can be given a visa to Canada, he must make a video confessing and post on Facebook and his WhatsApp status that if he comes to Canada and cheats on me, his wife, Ezinne Maryjane Nwanorue, he will die, in the name of Jesus,” she wrote.
“And he will remain faithful to me, his wife, and be a good husband to me, his wife, and be a good father to our children. This is the only way God can give him a visa to come to Canada, thus said the Lord.”
In response, Franklin shared a video in which he accepted the condition and pledged to remain faithful to his wife, acknowledging the sacrifices she had made since relocating.
“As directed by God, and I want the best for you and my children, I want peace in your life, in my marriage. I confess, and I promise that if I ever come to Canada and cheat on you, let me die in Jesus Christ’s name,” he said.
“You have tried—three years without your children and me. I want the best for you and my children. I keep my promise to you, my love. I want you to be happy and will do anything to make you happy.
“Anything that hurts you in the past, forgive and move on. I will never divorce you. Nothing will make me leave you.”
Following her husband’s public declaration, Ezinne also made a similar commitment, saying she would remain faithful throughout their marriage.
“I am confessing that I will remain faithful sexually to my husband and that if I become unfaithful, let me die. I confess that I will continue to be a good wife to my husband and a good mother to our children,” she said.
“I pray God helps us build a healthy marriage and a Godly home.”
The couple’s exchange has since generated widespread discussion on social media, with many users expressing mixed reactions to the public vows and the condition attached to the planned relocation to Canada
