Plateau Declares Dusk‑to‑Dawn Curfew in Barkin Ladi, Bokkos, Mangu

The Plateau State Government has announced an immediate dusk‑to‑dawn curfew across Barkin Ladi, Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas following emerging security threats that officials say require urgent containment.

The directive, effective Monday, restricts movement between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM until further notice. Government sources describe the measure as a necessary intervention to stabilize the affected communities and prevent a further breakdown of law and order.

In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Communication, Rt. Hon. Joyce Lohya Ramnap, the administration of Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang said the curfew was part of a coordinated security response aimed at protecting lives and restoring calm.

According to the statement, residents in the three local government areas are expected to comply fully with the directive and adjust their commercial, agricultural and personal activities to fit within the permitted hours.

The government emphasized that the restriction is designed to minimize hardship while ensuring that security agencies can operate effectively.

Security operatives have been ordered to enforce the curfew strictly, including an immediate ban on the use of motorcycles within the affected areas. Authorities, however, assured citizens that enforcement will be carried out professionally and with respect for human rights.

The government urged residents to remain vigilant, cooperate with security personnel and report suspicious activities as efforts continue to restore normalcy.
