The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has congratulated Governor Biodun Oyebanji on his victory in the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election, describing the outcome as a strong endorsement of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its governance agenda.
Oyebanji was declared winner of Saturday’s poll after securing 319,224 votes, defeating PDP candidate Dr. Wole Oluyede, who polled 40,543 votes, while ADC’s Ambassador Dare Bejide scored 12,872 votes.
A delegation of the PGF, led by Imo State Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma, alongside Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun and Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, visited Oyebanji at the Government House in Ado Ekiti to congratulate him.
Uzodimma said the victory reflected the people’s confidence in APC’s programmes and governance, adding that the party’s influence continues to grow across the country.
He also commended President Bola Tinubu for his leadership, noting that the outcome demonstrated steady progress in Nigeria’s democratic process.
“The overwhelming support enjoyed by the APC in the election reflected the confidence of the people in the party’s programmes,” he said.
Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun described the result as a triumph for democracy, praising INEC and security agencies for conducting a peaceful and transparent election.
He said the scale of Oyebanji’s victory showed his popularity and the trust voters have in his administration.
Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, who chaired the APC campaign council in Ekiti, said Oyebanji’s re-election marked a historic milestone, noting that he had become the first governor in the state’s democratic history to secure back-to-back victories since 1999.
Bamidele added that Oyebanji’s leadership had fostered unity among political stakeholders and transformed the state’s political environment.
He said the governor’s achievement demonstrated his ability to build consensus and deliver governance across party lines.
