Oriental Energy Empowers 692 Host Community Members

Oriental Energy Resources Limited, Settlor of the Effiat and Mbo Host Communities’ Development Trust, has empowered 692 beneficiaries in Akwa Ibom State through education, vocational skills and enterprise support under its five-year Host Communities Development Plan.

The beneficiaries were presented at the Trust’s 2026 orientation in Uyo, recently. The package includes 72 people for vocational and skills training, 400 education bursary recipients comprising 200 secondary and 200 tertiary students, 40 full secondary school scholarship beneficiaries, and 180 business grant recipients.

Chairman of the Trust, Inam Effiong Okon, said the initiative was aimed at creating opportunities and improving long-term prospects. “Today, we are not just presenting bursaries and scholarships. We are also creating opportunities for learning, skill, growth and empowerment,” he said.

Mbo Local Government Chairman, Hon. Sunday Etim, commended Oriental Energy for its strong community relations, describing the programme as tangible with direct benefits to education and livelihoods.

Managing Director of Oriental Energy, Mustafa Indimi, said the Trust reflects the company’s commitment beyond compliance.
