‘DUMPED LIKE TRASH!’ EX-MTN WORKERS BREAK SILENCE ON 16 YEARS OF ALLEGED EXPLOITATION AS MTN’VANISHES’ AHEAD OF COURT BATTLE!

In a shocking revelation that has ripped the lid off alleged corporate exploitation in Nigeria’s telecom sector, Paul Kingsley Oguoma, a former Data Sales Consultant for MTN Nigeria, has blown the whistle on what he describes as over a decade of deceit, unfulfilled promises, and severe mistreatment. Speaking with palpable agony in a viral video, Oguoma detailed a harrowing 13-year ordeal that has left him battling health crises and relying on medication just to survive.

A Dream Turned Nightmare Oguoma’s journey began with high hopes on May 22, 2013, when he was employed by MTN through an agency called Phillips Outsourcing. He was quickly deployed to Imo State and given a clear mandate: drive data activation, exhibition, and promotion. Following his onboarding in Lagos, MTN management reportedly made a firm, mouth-watering promise. According to Oguoma, the telecom giant assured him and his colleagues that if they added value and grew the business, conversion letters to permanent staff status were guaranteed.

Driven by this golden promise, Oguoma worked relentlessly. He noted that MTN handed over key partners to him and his team to manage and extract value, claiming that no one in Imo State worked harder than he did. The consultant stated their tireless efforts were instrumental in transforming MTN from a limited liability company into the PLC it is today.

Risking Life and Limb in the Line of Fire The human cost of this corporate ambition is where Oguoma’s story turns truly terrifying. While chasing targets, he was deployed to manage highly volatile and crisis-ridden areas in Imo State, including Okigwe, Ohaji-Egbema, and Owerri West. He recounted the sheer terror of operating in Njaba, a zone so dangerous that the former sales representative had previously disappeared due to security challenges.

Yet, fueled by MTN’s reassurances, Oguoma stepped into the void, interfacing with unknown gunmen on a nearly daily basis. Despite putting his life on the line and receiving recognition awards from the company for his stellar performance, the promised permanent staff benefits never materialized. Oguoma agonizingly pointed out that nobody else in the state suffered and took such life-threatening risks for the company’s growth as he did.

The Blueprint of Betrayal The depth of Oguoma’s contribution cannot be overstated. He confidently asserted that he provided the detailed blueprint, strategy, and planning that drove MTN’s data penetration in the region. More shockingly, he revealed that the One Time Password (OTP) system currently used for SIM registration was entirely his brainchild, a recommendation he submitted directly to the company. His team’s relentless drive for gross connections even contributed to MTN crossing the 100 million subscriber mark.

Yet, while permanent staff reportedly rake in massive salaries—with claims that some earn up to N2.4 million monthly—Oguoma and his peers were left out in the cold. He stated he functioned in a permanent staff role from 2013 until June 4, 2026, waiting in vain for his conversion letter.

The Final Insult and The Fight for Justice The situation took a devastating turn when Phillips Outsourcing was terminated by MTN in 2023. The departure of the agency was brutal for the workers, who were sent away nearly empty-handed. Oguoma revealed they were given a meager ex-gratia payment ranging from N50,000 to N200,000 to appreciate their years of loyal service.

Following the agency’s exit, MTN retained their services directly, continuing to use them without a formal contract. However, the ultimate betrayal came when the company abruptly dumped them in 2026, a move Oguoma describes as treating them as if they were never part of the business’s growth. He expressed profound shock at the draconian manner in which they were discarded without any benefits, medical support, or compensation for the immense value they accrued for the company. Even a female retailer whom he had previously guided in the business was left utterly shocked upon learning of his sudden dismissal.

The psychological and physical toll has been catastrophic. Oguoma confessed that the trauma has severely impacted his health, leaving him on medication to cope with the shock. Refusing to be silenced, Oguoma and his colleagues have now dragged MTN Nigeria to the National Industrial Court in the Owerri Judicial Division, seeking justice for what he terms a deeply appalling corporate injustice. With his story going viral on social media, the telecom giant remains under heavy public scrutiny over these damning allegations.

According to Olufemi Eseku, another victim the exploitation stretches back even further. Detailing a grueling 16 years of service, Eseku revealed how the telecom giant systematically integrated them into its core operations while denying them the security and compensation of permanent staff.

“We were integrated into their system and used to manage permanent roles and revenue-generating partners,” Eseku stated, explaining how they performed the exact same duties as permanent staff who were reportedly earning up to N2.4 million monthly. Yet, despite their immense contributions to helping MTN cross the 100 million subscriber mark, the company allegedly hid under the guise of “contract” employment to leave them empty-handed.

The 2023 Transition and the June 2026 Massacre The workers’ timeline paints a grim picture of calculated corporate maneuvering. Both Oguoma and Eseku originally worked under an agency known as Phillips Consulting (or Phillips Outsourcing). In 2023, MTN terminated its relationship with the agency. Instead of converting these deeply experienced, long-serving consultants to permanent staff—as they had repeatedly been promised—MTN retained their services directly without formalizing their permanent status.

The final, devastating blow was struck in June 2026. Without warning, severance benefits, medical support, or any recognition of their years of loyal service, MTN abruptly terminated their appointments. Oguoma, whose physical and psychological health has been severely compromised by the trauma, noted that the draconian dismissal felt as though they had never contributed to the business’s massive growth.

MTN Goes ‘Incognito’ as Court Date Looms Refusing to be discarded in silence, the aggrieved workers dragged MTN Nigeria to the National Industrial Court in the Owerri Judicial Division. But the legal battle has taken a bizarre twist.

According to Eseku, when confronted with the lawsuit, MTN management initially signaled they were not interested in fighting the case in court, proposing an out-of-court settlement instead. However, this olive branch appears to have been a stalling tactic. Since July 23, 2026, the telecom giant has allegedly gone completely silent and “incognito,” ignoring the very workers who built their regional dominance.

Now, all eyes are on the judiciary. The next court hearing is slated for October 24, 2026, yet MTN has shockingly failed to file any legal defense. As the date rapidly approaches, public outrage is mounting over how a multi-billion-naira corporation could allegedly treat its most dedicated frontline soldiers as disposable collateral.
