Lagos launches Eko Digital Training for Youths
— Flags off Badagry, Ikorodu programmes

LAGOS — The Lagos State Government, through the Ministry of Tertiary Education, has launched the Eko Digital Training initiative to equip youths in the Badagry and Ikorodu divisions with digital and entrepreneurial skills.
The week-long training, which began on September 7 and ends September 11, 2026, is part of the state government’s efforts to promote technology literacy, educational development and economic self-reliance among young residents.
The training is being held at two designated centres — the Iba ICT Centre in Iba Town, Badagry Division, and the Homat School of Basic Studies CBT Centre in Igbogbo, Ikorodu Division.
The programme covers introductory modules in artificial intelligence, basic information technology and practical computing skills, as well as emotional intelligence aimed at promoting career development and leadership.
Speaking during a briefing with facilitators, coordinators and participants at his Ikeja office, Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Tolani Sule, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to providing young residents with practical and relevant skills.
Sule said the training would give participants the knowledge and competitive advantage required to adapt to the changing demands of the global workforce.
He said: “The targeted coursework provides youth with the competitive edge needed to thrive in fast-evolving global markets.”
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Adeniran Kasali, said targeted digital education was important to addressing youth unemployment and supporting long-term economic growth.
Kasali urged eligible young residents in Badagry and Ikorodu to take advantage of the free training programme to improve their skills and enhance their career prospects.
He said the initiative reflected the state’s investment in preparing young people for opportunities in an increasingly digital economy.
