‘His life is my life’ — Veekee James defends always being with husband at outings

Fashion designer Veekee James has responded to criticism over her husband, Femi Atere, frequently accompanying her to public functions, explaining that she sees no reason for the couple to live separate social lives.
The designer addressed the criticism in a Snapchat video on Sunday after a social media user questioned why Atere was regularly spotted with her and suggested that he had no independent life outside their marriage.
Veekee, however, described their closeness as a deliberate choice, noting that both she and her husband consider their lives deeply connected.
“Yes, my husband does not have a life of his own. His life is my life, the same way I don’t have a life of my own”.
Using the image of a padlock and key, she further illustrated how closely she believes the couple are connected.
“My life is his life. He is me and I am him. Together we are like padlock and key”.
The entrepreneur also took aim at those who believe married couples should maintain separate lifestyles, suggesting that such opinions stem from a misunderstanding of what marriage entails.
“When you marry your own, separate him. When you marry your own, remove him from your life and keep him somewhere else. You don’t know what marriage is”.
According to Veekee James, the partnership extends to virtually every part of their lives, with each spouse considering the other an integral part of who they are.
“His life is mine, my life is his. Everything he is, is mine”.
She further indicated that the public should expect to see more of the couple together, regardless of the reactions their frequent appearances may attract.
“You’ve not seen anything. You will see me and my husband anywhere possible, everywhere possible, you will see us”.
Veekee concluded the video with humour, affectionately referring to Atere as her “personal handbag” while showcasing moments of the couple together.
