Fresh Plateau attack claims two in Kuru community

By Golok Nanmwa, JOS

Gunmen on Tuesday night killed two persons in a fresh attack on Kuru community in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The attackers reportedly stormed the Dabwak area, adjacent to Government Science School, Kuru, at about 10 p.m. and opened fire on residents, causing panic in the community.

The Publicity Secretary of the Berom Youth Moulders Association, BYM, Rwang Tengwong, who confirmed the incident to Vanguard, described the recurring attacks on Plateau communities as “one too many”.

He lamented the continued bloodshed and called on security agencies to take urgent steps to protect lives and apprehend those responsible.

A resident of the area, Dangwang Elisha, said the gunmen invaded the community under the cover of darkness, forcing many residents to flee for safety.

He called for improved security measures and proactive intelligence gathering to halt the attacks on rural communities.

“We cannot continue to live in fear. Security agencies must act fast to stop these attacks and protect innocent people,” he said.

Efforts to get a reaction from the spokesman of the Plateau State Police Command, Alfred Alabo, were unsuccessful.
