Delta traditional rulers mourn Uduaghan
The Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers has mourned former Governor Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan, describing him as a detribalised leader whose legacy of peace, development and support for traditional institutions would endure.
The council, in a condolence message dated October 21, 2026, extended its sympathies to the Uduaghan family of Abigborodo, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the people of Delta State over the former governor’s death.
The message was signed by the Chairman of the council, the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, HRM Orhue I, CFR, MNI.
The traditional rulers said the news of Uduaghan’s death was received with shock and profound bewilderment, recalling his cordial relationship with the traditional institution during his tenure as governor.
According to the council, Uduaghan prioritised the welfare of traditional rulers and made significant contributions to human capital development, infrastructure and the promotion of peace among the state’s ethnic groups.
It described the former governor as a detribalised leader who treated all parts of Delta as one indivisible family, irrespective of ethnic differences.
The council noted that although Uduaghan inherited the Warri crisis from his predecessor, he worked to establish lasting peace among the three warring ethnic groups.
It said his contributions would continue to resonate among Deltans, particularly his efforts to strengthen the traditional institution and enhance its standing alongside similar institutions in other states.
The council prayed for the repose of Uduaghan’s soul and other departed faithful, while asking God to comfort his immediate family, the Delta State Government and the people of the state over what it described as an irreparable loss.
