Catalyst Symposium Holds “Alaigbo” Series in South-East, Empowers Youths
The Catalyst Symposium, an initiative that empowers and nurtures emerging leaders across different sectors, has held its Alaigbo Series in Anambra and Imo States to ignite ideas, inspire creativity and empower youths from the region to make impactful contributions to nation building.
The Anambra event was held in Awka, the state capital, on Aug.13 , and was followed by the Owerri edition on Aug. 17 at the Guest House of the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), Imo State, with both events attracting a vibrant audience of emerging leaders, entrepreneurs, young professionals, and students who filled the venues with energy and expectation.
These gatherings formed a powerful multi-city movement dedicated to catalyzing minds, igniting ideas, and empowering the sons and daughters of Alaigbo to move from survival to significance.
The atmosphere was charged with purposeful conversations as participants engaged deeply with practical insights on leadership, business growth, and regional transformation. The event set a strong tone for the entire Alaigbo Series and demonstrated the hunger for quality platforms within the South-East.
A major highlight of the Awka Edition was the combined contributions of Philip O. Ekwempu Esq., President of the Awka Chamber of Commerce, and Eze Chinonso, who served as a key speaker and panelist.
While Ekwempu delivered penetrating insights on “From Traders to Titans: Building Systems, Scaling Sustainably, and Creating Generational Wealth,” Eze Chinonso complemented the discourse with practical business perspectives that prepared the ground for his later special appearance in Owerri. Together, their sessions sparked meaningful dialogue on sustainable wealth creation and bold entrepreneurship in Alaigbo.
The smooth flow and high engagement of both editions were largely driven by the outstanding work of Dr Macaulay Barnabas, who served as the Event Host and Lead Moderator.
Behind the success of these editions stands the unwavering dedication and strong work ethic of the convener, Arogundade Dolapo. From meticulous planning and stakeholder engagement to hands-on coordination across cities, his commitment to excellence ensured that every detail was executed with precision.
Dolapo’s relentless drive continues to push The Catalyst Symposium beyond limitations and toward greater impact.
The Owerri edition, styled as the ‘Eze Chinonso Special’, carried unique emotional vibe as a homecoming for the special guest at his alma mater, the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO).
In addition to Eze Chinonso’s inspiring session, the edition featured “The Catalyst Pitch and Mentorship Programme, where 13 scholars from FUTO boldly pitched their business ideas.
These young innovators have been selected to undergo a structured three-week mentorship programme designed to refine their concepts, build practical skills, and position them for real growth.
Across both cities, the quality of engagement, the free access model, and the sense of community stood out clearly, as participants left with renewed clarity, expanded networks, and a stronger belief in the possibilities within Alaigbo.
These two editions have further strengthened The Catalyst Symposium’s growing footprint, bringing the total number of successful editions to over ten.
According to the organisers, as the sparks ignited in Awka and Owerri continue to spread, The Catalyst Symposium remains committed to expanding this movement, creating more platforms, and supporting the next generation of leaders who will drive the sustainable development and generational wealth of the South-East and beyond.
