Bauchi Governor mourns former Deputy Governor Audu Katagum

BAUCHI — Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Deputy Governor of the state, Audu Sule Katagum, describing his passing as a great loss to Bauchi’s political and traditional institutions.

Katagum, the Wazirin Katagum, died on Saturday at Nizamiye Hospital in Abuja.

In a condolence message, Governor Mohammed described the late statesman as a loyal and patriotic public servant who dedicated his life to the service of humanity with humility and decorum.

The governor recalled Katagum’s contributions during his tenure as deputy governor under former Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar, as well as his service as Chairman of the Governing Board of Adamu Tafawa Balewa College of Education, Kangere, where he demonstrated commitment to good governance, stability and the development of Bauchi State.

Mohammed noted that beyond politics and public service, the deceased distinguished himself as an accomplished architect whose professional expertise contributed significantly to the physical and infrastructural development of the state.

According to the governor, Katagum’s knowledge, experience and dedication to excellence helped advance sustainable development and improve the built environment in Bauchi State, leaving behind enduring legacies that will benefit future generations.

He also praised the late Wazirin Katagum for his wisdom, integrity and unwavering commitment to the unity and progress of Bauchi State, noting that his leadership and counsel earned him respect across political, traditional and social divides.

The governor urged the family, associates, the Katagum Emirate and the people of Bauchi State to take solace in the exemplary life and achievements of the deceased, whose contributions to society will remain indelible in the state’s history.

Mohammed extended his condolences to the immediate family of the late statesman, the Emir of Katagum, the Katagum Emirate Council, friends, associates and all those affected by the loss.

He prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the deceased, reward his good deeds and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
