BASL Holds Mid-year Management Retreat, Signals Next Phase of Growth
Bi-Courtney Aviation Services Limited (BASL), operators of the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2), has concluded a three-day mid-year strategic management retreat themed: ‘Leadership for Total Quality Delivery’, aimed at reinforcing its core values and positioning the organisation for its next phase of growth.
In his opening remarks, the Chairman of BASL, Dr. Wale Babalakin, reaffirmed the company’s vision and reflected on its resilience in navigating various challenges over nearly two decades.
“From the outset, I believed in the potential of this project, even when many doubted that a private company could successfully develop and operate an airport terminal in Nigeria. We remained focused on that vision,” he said.
Reflecting on BASL’s journey, Babalakin noted that the company had overcome significant challenges while building the institutional strength required to successfully operate MMA2.
“We have successfully managed this terminal for nearly 20 years. That achievement reflects the resilience and capability of our team. Our success is anchored on competence and integrity. These remain non-negotiable values, and I urge everyone to uphold them consistently,” he said.
Looking ahead, the chairman said recent progress on long-standing concession-related matters provides an opportunity to further strengthen MMA2’s regional positioning and support its ambition of becoming a leading aviation hub in Africa,” he noted.
Speaking on the outcomes of the retreat, Ag. Chief Operating Officer/Head, Space and Premises Management, Mr. Kola Bamigboye, said the leadership team was energized by the retreat and committed to translating its outcomes into measurable actions across the organisation.
“The focus now is on translating the outcomes of this retreat into deliberate actions, strengthening leadership alignment, improving communication and accountability, and ensuring that the changes we have identified are reflected in how we lead and work across the organisation,” Bamigboye said.
