Action Alliance asks INEC to review 2027 candidates’ list

By Joseph Erunke, Abuja

The Action Alliance,AA, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission,INEC, to review the published list of candidates for the 2027 general elections, saying its candidates were omitted despite court judgments which it said recognised the leadership of its National Chairman, Chief Barrister Kenneth Udeze.

In a statement issued on Sunday,by its National Chairman, Barr. Kenneth Udeze,
the party urged the electoral commission to publish a revised list reflecting candidates nominated by the Udeze-led National Executive Committee.

According to the party, Court of Appeal judgments had affirmed the legitimacy of the Udeze-led leadership, and it expressed concern that candidates it said were validly nominated under that leadership were not included in INEC’s published list.

The party said it believed the omission was inconsistent with the provisions of the Electoral Act 2022 governing the publication of candidates nominated by political parties.

AA maintained that its candidates emerged from party primaries conducted in line with the timelines prescribed by law and requested that INEC review the publication.

The party gave the commission 48 hours to address its concerns, stating that it would consider legal options available to it if the issue remained unresolved.

Action Alliance also appealed to stakeholders, including civil society organisations and the media, to monitor developments relating to the matter.
