By Demola Akinyemi, Ilorin
ILORIN — The All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate in Kwara State, Hon. Salihu-Yakubu Danladi, has assured voters in the Kwara Central Senatorial District that he would not disappoint them if elected governor in the 2027 election.
Danladi gave the assurance during the APC’s state-wide “Thank You” tour of the Kwara Central Senatorial District, following the completion of the party’s visit to the southern part of the state.
The weekend tour, which was launched in Afon, headquarters of Asa Local Government Area, also covered Ilorin West Local Government Area.
The delegation, led by Danladi, who is also Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, was received in both local government areas by traditional rulers, government officials, religious leaders and party stakeholders.
Addressing party supporters, Danladi thanked traditional and religious leaders as well as party stakeholders for their support, which he said would contribute to the APC’s victory in 2027.
He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as the stability of the country, expressing confidence that the President would secure a second term.
“The President has done a lot and, by His grace, the second term is assured for continuity of progress and development.
“We are here to thank the people of Ilorin West. That is the purpose of coming here today. We are here to reassure you that, by His grace, as you stand for APC, we are going to win. Relax your mind. Let campaign start.
“In this hall are youth, women and elders. We have who is who in Ilorin West Local Government here. We thank you for standing by us.
“I want to reassure you that you will not be disappointed as far as APC is concerned. You already know what your son, His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has done for Ilorin West and Kwara State in general. What he is doing will never stop. You will not be disappointed for having SYD,” he said.
Speaking at Afon, member of the House of Representatives and APC candidate for Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency, Hon. Mukhtar Tolani Shagaya, expressed confidence that the party’s candidates would emerge victorious in 2027.
Shagaya said Kwarans would not want to return to what he described as the past, adding that the people would support continuity.
Also speaking, Chairman of the Lower Niger River Basin Development Authority and indigene of Asa, Alhaji Abdullateef Gidado Alakawa, said Governor AbdulRazaq could not have achieved much without adequate support from the legislative arm of government.
Describing Danladi as a grassroots politician with electoral value, Alakawa commended him for providing the governor with the legislative support needed to implement his administration’s programmes.
The Chairman of the Kwara State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Prof. Shehu Raheem Adaramaja, said Asa Local Government had benefited significantly from the administration, citing developments in education, roads, healthcare and social investment programmes.
An APC elder in Asa, Alhaji Issa Amasa, who vouched for Danladi’s integrity, humility and competence, advised the governorship candidate to remain accessible to the people even after attaining his political ambition.
In Ilorin West, an aide to Senator Ibrahim Yahya Oloriegbe, Engr. Jimoh Ajani Olarenwaju, urged aggrieved party members to embrace peace and work for the success of the APC.
Olarenwaju said loyalty and dedication were essential to party politics, adding that members should support candidates produced through the party’s primary elections.
“I believe Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has performed exceedingly well.
“Party politics is about dedication, commitment and absolute loyalty to the leadership of the party. That is what we believe an average politician should possess. In APC, we accept all our candidates as produced from the primaries,” he said.
Also speaking on behalf of the Emir of Ilorin, Balogun Alanamu of Ilorin, Dr. Usman Abubakar Atolagbe Jos, described the visit as thoughtful and an indication of respect for the traditional institution.
He said the Emir of Ilorin had directed traditional title holders in Ilorin West to receive the APC delegation and prayed for the success of the party’s candidates at the polls.
“When we heard you were coming to Ilorin West, the Emir of Ilorin, under whom this local government is, mandated us to receive you. You are being received here this afternoon by Magajis, Alanguas and Daudus in Ilorin West Local Government as instructed by the Emir,” he said.
He added: “As you have said that Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Sardauna Ngeri asked you to come to us, we are happy to receive you and we pray Almighty Allah to protect and grant you victory. I also pray for the successful completion of the administration of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.”
In Asa, the District Head of Balah, Alhaji Kolapo Abdulkadir, led other district heads in receiving the APC delegation and prayed for the electoral success of Danladi and other candidates.
The community leader also pledged overwhelming votes for the APC candidates.
The delegation, which included members of the state House of Assembly and other party chieftains, was hosted in Ilorin West by Senior Adviser and Counsellor to the Governor, Alhaji Sa’adu Salau; Chairman, Ilorin West LGA, Hon. AbdulRahman Ladan; Alhaji Mustapha Kobe; Dr. Ghali Alaya; Hon. Bamidele Aluko; Alhaji Abdulrazaq Jiddah; Alhaji Ibrahim Danmeigoro; Engr. AbdulRahman Giwa; and various support groups.
