Tinubu Orders Full Probe into Gruesome Killing of Woman, 6 Children in Kano
ABUJA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed security agencies to conduct a comprehensive investigation into the horrific arson attack that claimed the lives of a woman and her six children in Gwarzo Local Government Area of Kano State.
In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the President condemned the act as “heinous and barbaric,” vowing that the perpetrators will face the full weight of the law.
The tragedy, which occurred over the weekend, has sparked nationwide outrage after arsonists set a residential building on fire, trapping the family inside.
“Justice Must Be Served”
President Tinubu expressed deep disturbance over the incident, describing it as an assault on humanity. He charged the Kano State Police Command and other relevant security outfits to fish out the criminals responsible for the “heart-wrenching” crime.
“The President has directed that no stone should be left unturned in tracking down these criminals,” the statement read. “Such a savage act has no place in a civilized society, and the Federal Government will ensure justice is served swiftly.”
Condolences to Kano
The President extended his deepest sympathies to the bereaved father of the children, the extended family, and the government of Kano State.
He prayed for the repose of the souls of the departed and asked God to grant the grieving family the fortitude to bear the “irreparable loss.”
Context of the Tragedy
The victims—identified as 35-year-old Fatima and her six children—were asleep when unknown assailants reportedly locked their house from the outside and set it ablaze.
Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has also visited the scene, pledging a reward for anyone with information that leads to the arrest of the suspects. The police have already commenced a manhunt, with Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin earlier commending the initial arrests of suspects linked to the crime.
