Chief Executive, Lekki Gardens Estate, Dr. Richard Nyong, has described the late founder of MISA Nigeria Limited, Mr. Muritala Adegboyega Ibrahim, as a real estate entrepreneur whose contributions to housing development and philanthropy will endure beyond his lifetime.

Nyong made the remarks while reflecting on Ibrahim’s legacy following the recent commissioning of a 36-unit residential development donated by the deceased to the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos, to provide accommodation for doctors and other healthcare professionals.

The project, completed shortly before Ibrahim’s death in March 2026 after a prolonged illness, was inaugurated by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate.

According to Nyong, the initiative underscored Ibrahim’s commitment to addressing practical social challenges through real estate development, particularly in the healthcare sector where access to affordable accommodation remains a concern for many workers.

He recalled that the project was conceived after Ibrahim learnt of the housing difficulties faced by a young doctor attached to the hospital, prompting him to develop permanent residential accommodation rather than provide temporary financial assistance.

Nyong said the intervention reflected Ibrahim’s belief that private sector investments could also serve broader social objectives beyond commercial returns.

Founded in 1996, MISA Nigeria Limited grew into one of the country’s notable property development firms, delivering residential, commercial and mixed-use developments across Lagos and other locations.

Among its landmark projects were the Doctors’ Housing Initiative and a mixed-use high-rise on Glover Road, Ikoyi, developed to Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) and Excellence in Design for Greater Efficiencies (EDGE) certification standards.

Beyond property development, Ibrahim was recognised for supporting initiatives aimed at improving healthcare infrastructure and expanding access to quality housing.

Nyong also reflected on his personal relationship with the late developer, recalling that although both operated within the same industry, Ibrahim offered support during a particularly difficult period in his life in 2016.

According to him, the relationship evolved into a close friendship founded on mutual respect and a shared commitment to advancing Nigeria’s real estate sector.

He noted that the commissioning of the doctors’ housing project, attended by members of Ibrahim’s family, demonstrated that the late entrepreneur’s impact extended beyond the buildings he developed to the lives improved through his interventions.

Born in December 1970, Ibrahim built MISA Nigeria Limited into a major player in the real estate industry before his passing in 2026.

Unarguably, the doctors’ housing project remained one of his most significant philanthropic contributions, combining private sector investment with support for public healthcare delivery and welfare for frontline medical personnel.
