Police Intercept Man with Human Parts on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

ABEOKUTA — Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a middle-aged man for being in possession of human parts along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

The suspect, whose identity police have temporarily withheld pending further investigation, was apprehended during a routine “stop-and-search” operation near the Ibafo axis of the highway on Sunday.

Police sources confirmed that officers discovered the gruesome exhibits—concealed in a “Ghana-must-go” bag—inside a commercial bus heading towards Ibadan.

The Interception

According to eyewitnesses, the suspect appeared visibly shaken when officers flagged down the Mazda commercial bus for a standard check. His nervous demeanor prompted the patrol team to conduct a thorough search of his luggage.

“The officers noticed he was sweating profusely despite the cool weather,” a passenger recounted. “When they opened his bag, the stench was unbearable. They found what looked like human hands and other flesh wrapped in polythene bags.”

Confession and Police Reaction

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Monday. She stated that the suspect is currently undergoing intense interrogation at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID).

“Our officers on highway patrol intercepted the suspect following credible intelligence and diligent policing,” Odutola stated. “Preliminary investigations reveal he was transporting the exhibits to a herbalist in Oyo State for money ritual purposes.”

The PPRO warned that the Command has intensified surveillance along the expressway to curb crimes, including kidnapping and ritual trafficking.

Zero Tolerance

The Commissioner of Police has ordered a full-scale investigation to unmask the source of the human parts and apprehend any accomplices. He reiterated that the state remains a “no-go area” for criminals.

“We will dig to the root of this matter. Anyone trading in human parts will face the full weight of the law,” the police statement added.
