England training equipment stolen at 2026 World Cup
England’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have suffered an unexpected setback after some of the team’s training equipment was reportedly stolen before their arrival in Kansas City.
The incident occurred while equipment was being transported to England’s training base at Swope Soccer Village ahead of the team’s arrival on Saturday. Vehicles carrying the gear were allegedly broken into, prompting an investigation by local authorities.
The Football Association is currently assessing the extent of the loss, with training balls and boots among the items feared to have been taken.
England manager Thomas Tuchel and his squad were scheduled to arrive in Kansas City on Saturday afternoon, with the equipment expected to be ready at the training facility before the team’s arrival.
Police officers attended the scene on Friday night and are working closely with the FA as investigations continue. It is understood that two arrests have already been made in connection with the incident.
Confirming the investigation, a spokesman for Kansas Police said: “We are investigating a possible theft of equipment from a team vehicle that arrived in Kansas City with items missing this evening. The investigation is ongoing.”
The theft has raised concerns that England’s preparations for their opening World Cup match against Croatia on Wednesday could be affected, depending on the scale of the losses.
Despite the disruption, the England squad is expected to proceed with its training schedule, with players set to undertake their first full training session on Sunday as Tuchel begins final preparations for the tournament opener.
