“N10 Billion for VP Slot”: Fayose Exposes Secret Deal Between Atiku and Makinde in Minna
MINNA — A massive political storm has erupted following a bombshell revelation by former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, who has exposed the “untold story” of a clandestine meeting held yesterday in Minna, Niger State.
According to Fayose, the secret parley between former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde was not a mere courtesy call but a high-stakes negotiation for the 2027 presidency—involving a new party, a N10 billion war chest, and a calculated betrayal of the Peter Obi alliance.
Fayose’s detailed account claims that the duo met behind closed doors to finalize plans to run on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), effectively dumping the PDP and Labour Party arrangements.
Fayose revealed that the “Minna Accord” was built on the realization that Peter Obi is no longer a viable option for Atiku. The meeting participants reportedly agreed that Obi would never accept a Vice Presidential ticket again. Furthermore, the Northern caucus supposedly views Obi as “unacceptable” as a direct successor to Atiku. With Obi out of the equation, the slot for a Southern Christian running mate was thrown open—and Seyi Makinde stepped in to fill the void.
The N10 Billion “Entry Fee”
In perhaps the most explosive part of the revelation, Fayose alleged that money played a central role in cementing the deal. Governor Makinde reportedly agreed to join the ADC on one strict condition: He must be handed the Vice Presidential ticket.
To prove his commitment, the Oyo Governor allegedly offered a staggering N10 billion initial contribution. This sum is to be released in two tranches to fund the “proper take-off of the ADC” as the new mega-force. Makinde further assured the inner caucus that additional funds would flow once the campaign officially kicks off.
The Strategy: Divide and Conquer the Southwest
The report details a cynical strategy designed to weaken President Tinubu’s grip on the Southwest. Makinde allegedly posited that his presence on the ticket would fracture the Yoruba vote, giving the Atiku/Makinde ADC ticket the “needed advantage” to steal a victory. The Governor promised to deliver all Southwest ADC delegates to Atiku during the primary. Leveraging the influence of his wife, who hails from Rivers State, Makinde also pledged to secure critical delegate votes from the South-South region.
What Happens Next? Dubai Calling
According to Fayose, the Minna meeting was just the beginning. Atiku is reportedly 70% certain of securing the ADC presidential ticket, having already ensured the party adopted a “non-zoning” policy.
The deal is now set to be presented to Atiku’s “inner caucus” for final ratification. A follow-up meeting has been fixed for Dubai, United Arab Emirates, within the next two weeks to seal the pact.
As of Wednesday morning, neither Atiku’s media office nor Governor Makinde’s aides have issued a rebuttal to Fayose’s explosive claims.
